The University Library offers a number of听courses and workshops on various academic skills.听Custom courses can be requested and tailored, and you may ask for individual support.

The University Library can offer support for various parts of the research process. You can ask us for individual guidance, and or attend one of our academic skills courses or workshops. These cover topics such as scientific writing, publishing, systematic literature searching, and open research.

Support throughout听the research process
Open Science
Openness, transparency, and knowledge exchange are core values for the University of Bergen.听In 2020, the University board adopted听The University of Bergen Policy for Open Science. Research funders also have requirements that reseachers must adhere to.
The Library offers support and guidance for researchers on Open Science, primarily open publishing and open research data. We also organize regular activities on the subject, such as the Open Science webinar series each semester, and the monthly BOTT collaboration Open Science Lunch听(see UB Calendar).听
Publishing
The Library can guide researchers through the publication process, for example through听Open Access (OA) publishing听and听publishing agreements. We also manage the听幸运飞艇计划s OA publication fund, where researchers at 幸运飞艇计划 can apply for funding to cover Article Processing Charges (APC) to publish Open Access. Contact:听bora@uib.no.听
The Library serves as the organizational hub for registration and reporting of research activities through CRISTIN. Contact: cristin@uib.no. We are also part of the user group for the testing and implementation of the new archive.
Research data
The University Library offers guidance on various aspects of Open Access to research data. We advice on writing Data Management Plans (DMP), finding and reusing datasets, citable code, and depositing data in or generic or domain-specific research data archives.听Contact: research-data@uib.no.
Visibility and publishing statistics
There are activities researchers can use to boost their visibility and impact of their work. The University Library offers tips and guidance on听Visibility and publishing strategy, use of听researcher profiles & profile statistcs听(e.g. ORCID), and bibliometric services.听Contact:听bibliometri@uib.no.
Literature searching, systematic reviewing, citing and referencing
Creating specific yet flexible search strings is a vital step of litterature searches and reviewing. Similarily, conscious and correct citing is important in the writing process. The Library offers a number of courses for students and staff on these topics. In addition, researchers may ask for tailored courses. Digital Lab
The Digital Lab is an interdisciplinary hub听for researchers, lecturers,听and students, on-site and听digitally. The lab听is a space to learn,听to听discuss,听and to apply various digital tools and methods. Please reach out if you have an idea for an activity!
