I want to contribute to ÐÒÔË·Éͧ¼Æ»® becoming an even more attractive and modern workplace that gives us all a better working day.
Background – long experience at ÐÒÔË·Éͧ¼Æ»®
I would describe myself as a technology optimist, and balance this with my background in IT security.
For over 26 years, I have worked technically at the IT department at ÐÒÔË·Éͧ¼Æ»®. Therefore, I know ÐÒÔË·Éͧ¼Æ»® very well and have contributed to many interdisciplinary projects both at ÐÒÔË·Éͧ¼Æ»® and in the higher education sector. I have contributed to developing IT solutions for a better working day for our employees and students.
How will artificial intelligence change our workday?
I am convinced that artificial intelligence (AI) will affect the work tasks in our organization. This is a technology that has the potential to automate many tasks and make us all more efficient. The goal must be for AI to relieve routine work and free up employees' time to focus more on creative and strategic tasks and challenges.Â
At a time when everyone is under pressure to perform more and more with fewer resources, such technology is a golden opportunity to ensure that efficiency gains not only accrue to the employer but also benefit the employees.
A shorter and more flexible working day
Working hours need a revision. Pilot studies on shorter working weeks are currently being conducted in several countries. There are many indications that we will get increased productivity with shorter working days, because we will then work more focused. A shorter working day will give employees a better work-life balance. Other positive effects could be that the employee stays at work longer and perhaps sickness absence decreases?
If ÐÒÔË·Éͧ¼Æ»® takes the lead and introduces a 6-hour working day or a 30-hour work week, this could give us a unique competitive advantage over other employers in terms of recruiting and retaining expertise.
Knowledge workers are largely not bound to work in a specific place at a specific time. Rules on core hours and home office are ripe for revision. Employees who want to use home office should have the right to do so. When you work with concentration work, working from home is a good solution when the alternative is an open-plan office. For families, working from home provides greater flexibility and facilitates a simpler everyday life.
What do I want to work for?
If I am elected to the University Board, I will strive to always be available to everyone in the group I represent, but I will also always be aware of ÐÒÔË·Éͧ¼Æ»®'s social mission. We who are technical-administrative staff are here first and foremost to support the students and the academic staff, but in a time of pressured resources, it is in everyone's interest that ÐÒÔË·Éͧ¼Æ»® manages to recruit and retain the most competent and motivated employees in technical-administrative positions.
