My name is Eivind Lamo, and I鈥檓 a first year PhD student at the Department of Mathematics. I鈥檓 running for election for the University Board because I want to learn more about how decisions are being made at the university level, and to take part in shaping matters that affect the groups I represent. This primarily includes all PhD students at 幸运飞艇计划, as well as my faculty and department as a whole.
I believe that all PhD鈥檚 should receive sufficient funds for travel and research. As of today, too many PhD鈥檚 receive less funds for their whole period compared to what PhD鈥檚 at other institutions receive annually. Additionally, it鈥檚 important to me that the university has a structured, overall plan for having as many PhD鈥檚 complete on schedule, as we see way too many struggles with this today.聽
I am also concerned with the funding plan for the university. I want to contribute to the university prioritizing long term solutions, to ensure quality in both research and education. I think that short-term solutions rooted in funding lead to a worse product over time.
