T. Frede Thingstad becomes Professor Emeritus (19.12.2016)
In connection with T. Frede Thingstad becoming Professor Emeritus at the University of Bergen from 2017, a seminar was held at the University of Bergen and Hjort Centre for Marine Ecosystem Dynamics on December 2nd to bring Frede鈥檚 work into an international perspective and celebrate his professional and collegial achievements.

The German Society for Marine Research (Deutsche Gesellschaft f眉r Meeresforschung, DGM) recently announced the recipient of the Georg W眉st Prize 2017. Congratulations Ilker Fer!

Five new research projects to scientists at Geophysical Institute (09.12.2016)
In the programme FRINATEK, the research counsil distributed 251 mill. NOK on 32 new research projects. Four of these are for researchers at Geophysical Institute. We also got one of five projects in the programme Polarprog.

Nine EECRG and University Museum of Bergen members were fortunate to be at the 'Centenary (1916-2016) of pollen analysis and the legacy of Lennart von Post' symposium held at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm on 24-25 November 2016.
