New malaria research project in Ethiopia
Malaria remains a major public health problem worldwide. Researchers at CIH, the Bjerknes Climate Centre and in Ethiopia are collaborating to strengthen malaria research and now initiates a new project.
Main content
The researchers have built a research group in epidemiology and entomology called听 the Ethiopian Malaria Prediction System research group. This group will work to improve the understanding of the links between climate and malaria.
New programme
The recently granted funding for the research group's new malaria programme, which is called Combining indoor residual spraying and long-lasting insecticidal nets for preventing malaria: Cluster randomised trial in Ethiopia.
Professor Bernt Lindtj酶rn will coordinate the project from CIH.
Improvement of malaria control
This research aims to improve malaria control by evaluating the combined effect of indoor residual spraying (IRS) and long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) on malaria incidence in Ethiopia. The project also addresses how to promote uptake of research findings into public health programmes by enhancing our knowledge on interventions that will improve the effectiveness and coverage of malaria control programmes.
