Abstract:听Integrins are a family of 伪/尾 heterodimeric adhesion receptors that mediate听cell-cell, cell-matrix interactions and bidirectional signaling across the plasma听membrane. 伪4 integrins (伪4尾7 and 伪4尾1) are primarily expressed on听leukocytes. By interacting with their ligands expressed on high endothelial听venules, 伪4 integrins mediate the recruitment of leukocytes from blood听circulation to lymphoid organs and inflamed tissues, thereby playing essential听roles in immune surveillance and host defense. 伪4 integrins have been听implicated in many inflammatory diseases, such as Crohn鈥瞫 disease, ulcerative听colitis and multiple sclerosis. The function of integrins is dynamically regulated听by their activation and signaling. Studying the mechanism of integrin activation听and signaling is important for understanding the process of lymphocyte homing听and the development of new therapeutics for these inflammatory diseases.听This talk will focus on our most recent findings on novel endogenous activator听and inactivator for 伪4 integrins and their roles in regulating lymphocyte听trafficking and gut immunity.
