We have created the Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (TeLEd) research group in order that people from all areas of the University鈥 academics and administrators across all faculties, divisions, and even other institutions 鈥 can come together to identify, study, and research a broad range of questions related to teaching, learning, and assessment in higher education. Our main goal is to contribute to the development of a quality culture by stimulating Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) activities, within and across departments and faculties, by engaging in collaborative research on existing and novel teaching, learning, and assessment practices. TeLEd is a meeting place for bold discussions, systematic testing, and thorough evaluation of such practices.
Several trends in research and practice are challenging traditional teaching, learning, and assessment strategies, but they are also creating opportunities for new ways of organizing our courses and study programs. In TeLEd, we will explore ways in which technology and other innovations can be used to improve students鈥 learning, as well as our teaching and assessment practices.
