Announcement of the election to the Michael Sars Centre Advisory Board 2025
In the spring of 2025, general elections will be held for the faculty boards and department councils at the NT faculty, including the Michael Sars Centre's Advisory Board. The deadline for candidate nomination is March 28th.

To nominate a candidate to the Advisory Board, send an email to Kristina (kristina.hanson@uib.no) no later than March 28th.Ìý
IMPORTANT:
- For Group A (permanent staff in teaching and research position) and Group C (technical and administrative staff),Ìýthe election period is 4 years. For Group B (temporary staff in teaching and research position) it is one year.
- The new board period starts on August 1, 2025.
- Nominated candidates must have agreed to run for election.Ìý
- Those who run for election must have a research activity that is compatible with the duty to attend the Advisory Board meetings.
The Centre's Head of Asministration is excluded from election to the Advisory Board.
What is the role of the Advisory Board?
The Advisory Board handles matters relating to:
- The strategy and results document prepared by the Center
- Any restructuring and reorganization plans
- Budget proposals, annual budget and annual accounts
In addition, the board is an information and contact point between the Director and theÌýemployees.ÌýThe board is informed and can comment on job advertisements for the director andÌýgroup leader positions.
The board oversees the partnership between the European Molecular BiologyÌýLaboratory (EMBL) and the Michael Sars Center, and maintains dialogue betweenÌýthe Michael Sars Center and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Bergen.
The board advises on strategic and resource issues related to theÌýactivities described in the collaboration agreement between EMBL and ÐÒÔË·Éͧ¼Æ»®, which expires inÌý2025, and prepare the establishment of a new agreement to continue and strengthen theÌýpartnership between EMBL and the Michael Sars Center. It will also discuss and advise on individual matters of fundamental and strategic importance to the
the Center.
Finally, the board assists the Michael Sars Center and the NT Faculty in ensuring that there isÌýgood academic, organizational and financial framework for the center's operation, inÌýaccordance with the principles of the partnership with EMBL.Ìý
Who is getting elected?
Group A and BÌý- One member and two deputies from and among Group A and/or B (academic staff)
Group CÌý- One member and two deputies from and among Group C (technical and administrative staff)

Who has the right to nominate and vote?
The right to nominate and vote is granted to those who, at the start of the election:
- Are permanently employed in at least a half-time position, or
- Are employed or engaged for at least one year in at least a half-time position, or
- Have been continuously employed or engaged for at least one year in at least a half-time position.
