Information about ÐÒÔË·Éͧ¼Æ»® Guesthousing, as well as information and tips for finding private housing. Guest housing is provided as a short-term offer for visiting researchers working at ÐÒÔË·Éͧ¼Æ»® for a short period, as well as a transitional arrangement for international new employees. ÐÒÔË·Éͧ¼Æ»® Guest housing is centrally located on campus and close to the city center.

Booking
Who can book accommodation?Ìý The department or ÐÒÔË·Éͧ¼Æ»® unit affiliated with the guest researcher or new international employee can make reservations using the electronic application.
When and for how long?ÌýÌýHousing is offered for stays from 3 weeks to six months, with a maximum of 6 months pre-booking. If there is free capacity, and at short notice, other guests at ÐÒÔË·Éͧ¼Æ»® may also apply for housing for 3 weeks to 1 month.
How to book?ÌýÐÒÔË·Éͧ¼Æ»® affiliated department/faculty can book accommodation through our onlineÌý form. This is only available through ÐÒÔË·Éͧ¼Æ»® network or VPN.ÌýBilling information must be provided upon booking.
Cancellations must be made at least four weeks before the scheduled arrival date, or a cancellation fee equivalent to one month's rent will apply.
A fee may apply if you terminate before the end of the contract. A four-week notice period is required.

Checkout time: 10:00 AM
Make sure you have all your personal belongings, and do not leave food items in the kitchen.
Leave the keycard on the desk/table.Ìý
It is important, necessary and free to update your address with the following:
- National RegistryÌý
- Ìý automatically updates to the address in the National Registry (check that it has)
Sometimes you need to update your new address directly with some providers, like phone companies.Ìý
Smart tip here is that once your banking is set up, register invoices you receive as e-invoice or Autogiro.Ìý
Always use your personal email for contact with public offices, never your ÐÒÔË·Éͧ¼Æ»® email.

When renting private housing there are a few things you need to be aware of.
- :ÌýAlways make sure you get full contact information for the property owner.
- Ensure that you carefully read and understand your tenancy agreement, particularly regarding the type of agreement and its duration. Early termination of a rental contract may result in fees and additional costs.Ìý
- Familiarize yourself with tenant duties in the contract and what is expected of you as tenant.Ìý
- According to the Tenancy Act, housing deposit should never be paid into a private account, but rather into a separate bank account in your name, usually set up by the property owner in their bank of choice. This account should always require 2 signatures (yours and theirs) to withdraw. To sign and make a deposit a Norwegian BankID is required.
Contact housing@uib.no for options if you do not have your norwegianÌýBankID. Ìý - Home contentÌý protects your valuables, such as furniture, sports equipment, clothes and electronic devises. This insurance covers damage to belongings in the event of fire, water damage, burglary etc. This can be purchased through your Norwegian trade union, your bank, or insurance companies in Norway.
