Main content

Go-along interviewing is an emerging qualitative research methodÌýwhere researcher and interviewee go together to aÌýlocation relevant for the research. Usually employed in ethnographic studies,Ìýthe method is used to provide aÌýcontextualized understanding of aÌýparticipant’s experience. This paper explores performing Go-alongÌýinterviews inÌýImmersive Virtual Reality (VR). Through an analysisÌýof ten interviews conducted inside our participants’ Virtual MindÌýPalaces we show how the interlocutors’ shared presence in theÌývirtual environment established a common groundÌýbeneficial forÌýcommunication. Being in VR enabled our participants to demonstrate interactions spontaneously, and,Ìýby providing a guided tour,Ìýshow us relevant objects and locations in their Virtual Mind Palace.
