Paul K氓re S忙le defended his thesis for the PhD-degree at the University of Bergen on January 31 2025.
The title of the thesis is: "Oral Health and Quality of Life Among Patients Born with Cleft Lip and/or Palate in Bergen, Norway ".
The article was published in NanoToday and is an international collaboration, which highlights the very important and relevant issue of interference of nanomaterials with in vitro studies, which hampers the assessment of nanomaterials鈥 biological effects.

PhD-candidate at IKO, 脜shild Johansen, attended the CED/NOF-Oral Health Research Congress in Geneva 12-14th September. Hassan Abdel-Raouf Abdel-Wahab Mohamed Ali defended his thesis for the PhD-degree at the University of Bergen on the 24th of May. The title of the thesis is: " "Stemness and osteogenic differentiation of induced pluripotent stem cells generated in xeno-free conditions" ".
Victoria Xenaki defended her thesis for the PhD-degree at the University of Bergen on the 23 of May.
The title of the thesis is: " Nanosafety aspects: Dental health care workers鈥 perception of nanomaterials and in vitro nanotoxicity assessment using new approach methodologies ".

We鈥檙e thrilled to announce that the work by a researcher at the Tissue Engineering group, Shuntaro Yamada, has been featured as the Best Scientific Image of the Month on Nature.

脜shild Johansen, a PhD candidate in the Tissue Engineering Group, represented the University of Bergen and gave a talk at the National Convention for the Norwegian Dental Association in November 2023. The title of the talk was, 鈥淣ew Biomaterials for 3D-Printing of Bone鈥, where she presented some of her newest results.
Cecilie Gjerde, dentist and specialist in oral surgery and oral medicine, held a presentation at Bioteknologir氓det on how she builds new bone for patients using stem cells. Gjerde is a former winner of the research dissemination award Forsker Grand Prix and works as an associate professor at the Department of Clinical Dentistry at the University of Bergen.
Research advisors at the Faculty of Medicine have recently launched a new portal for researchers applying for external funding.
