Sj枚gren鈥檚 syndrome affects women and men throughout the world. Val茅ria Valim is a professor in rheumatology at Universidade Federal do Esp铆rito Santo in Brazil. In 2014-2015 Valim spent a sabbatical year as a guest researcher at Broegelmann research laboratory. Valim then established collaborations on evaluation of minor salivary gland biopsies with Professor Kathrine Skarstein [], and salivary gland ultrasonography with Dr. Daniel Hammenfors and Professor Malin V. Jonsson. In 2016 Valim herself hosted a research visit, when Hammenfors and Jonsson went to Brazil to collect data from children with juvenile Sj枚gren鈥檚 syndrome, in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paolo, and Vittoria []. This week Valim visited Bergen and took time to meet with the Sj枚gren group and plan new collaborations between Brazil and Bergen.
