A central source for our research is also large population studies like the Health Surveys in Hordaland (HUSK) and the . The national research project Cardiovascular Disease in Norway - CVDNOR has been an important source for research. A crucial element in the research is close collaboration with relevant clinical environments. Epidemiological methods are also given significant emphasis.
In 2011, the Research Council conducted an evaluation of research in biology, medicine, and health sciences. Registry-based research groups received a rating of "Very Good to Excellent."
Today, the research group consists of four permanent scientific employees in positions of 50% or more, seven PhD candidates, one postdoctoral researcher, and four administrative/technical staff members. In addition, there are adjunct positions and associated members from other research groups at the institute or from other institutions.
